JOHN HOUSTON, son of ROBERT R. HOUSTON and GRACE BENSON, was born 02 February 1667/68 in Somerset County, Maryland, and died Abt. 1739. He married BETTY NEWBOLD. They dwelt on an estate called "Longton" on the southside of the Pocomoke River in Somerset County, Maryland, which was purchased in 1709. They sold "Scotts Lot" to son James on 16 November 1737. JAMES HOUSTON, son of John and Betty Newbold Houston, died about 1772. He married MARY LAYFIELD. On 5 September 1762 James Houston executed a tripartite agreement between James G. Sayfield and J. Ennis concerning "Scott's Lot" in which it is stated that he is the son of John and the grandson of Robert R. Houston. His will dated 26 October 1770 was probated 03 March 1772.
