My grandfather Henderson was born and raised in Pocomoke City, Worcester County, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, on 16 October 1881 in an area where his family had lived, at that time, for over two hundred years. While growing up, I heard it said that he was a good hearted man, had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to play tennis and was proud to be a 32nd Degree Mason.

My grandmother Henderson, affectionately known as "Granny" was everything a grandmother should be to my brother and me. I have many fond memories of Granny over the years. It was Granny's interest in her ancestors and her unfulfilled desire to join the DAR that launched my journey in genealogy. Her handwritten notes were my "starting point".
